Well, it seems that after all the drama that we have seen from the elimination round and these final four games, these two teams are bound to face each other after all for the coveted UAAP senior’s basketball championship for 2017.
The Green Archers will face the Blue Eagles in the UAAP men’s basketball finals starting this Saturday.
The De La Salle Green Archers advanced to the finals of the UAAP men’s basketball tournament for the second straight year by, once again, defeating the Adamson Soaring Falcons in the Final Four round.
For the second straight game, the DLSU Green Archers leaned on a strong showing in the fourth period to foil an upset-minded Adamson Falcons squad in their Final Four matchup, 82-75, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Since the UAAP men’s basketball Final 4 semifinals was implemented 24 years ago, only La Salle has never lost a series when having the twice-to-beat advantage.
Even after making a bad inbound pass that cost them the game against Ateneo in the first round, captain Kib Montalbo’s confidence has never wavered.
On the brink of losing to the Blue Eagles once again, the Green Archers simply refused to quit. Ben Mbala’s MVP-worthy performance kept the team afloat all game but in the end, it was their collective defensive effort that saved them.
Already assured of the number two seed in the semis with a twice-to-beat advantage, there’s one more thing left for the Green Archers to do before they close out the elimination round, give Ateneo their first “L” of the season.
