A game after suffering their first loss of Season 80, the DLSU Green Archers bounced back in explosive fashion by blowing out the UST Growling Tigers, 115-86, on Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
I am pretty much sure that it is not just me who thought that one week is quite long enough to see the Green Archers back in action and get back on their winning ways after that stunning defeat at the hands of the Fighting Maroons last September 23.
By the last few minutes of yesterday’s 87-98 loss to the UP Fighting Maroons, a few people were visibly mad and couldn’t stand what was happening and couldn’t believe the inevitable loss, in addition, thousands more at the Mall of Asia Arena wore stunned, silent faces.
The main storyline for yesterday’s match against the Adamson Soaring Falcons was how reigning UAAP MVP Ben Mbala and the rest of the team would adjust to each other after the former missed DLSU’s first two wins due to his FIBA Afrobasket duties with Cameroon.
Big Ben Mbala may be back in action for the DLSU Green Archers this coming Wednesday but I don’t think it will change the fact that the green and white squad will be in for another shootout game against the young, athletic, and upstart Adamson Soaring Falcons.
If yesterday’s contest between the DLSU Green Archers and NU Bulldogs was a preview of Season 80’s Finals matchup, then the UAAP is in for a treat.
Despite firing a staggering 115 points en route to their second win of the season, it was defense in the final minutes of the fourth quarter that enabled the DLSU Green Archers to notch win no.
