As the countdown for the opening of a new season on September 1, 2019 slowly ticks by, the league, through its Public Information Office (PIO), invited members of the media today to give a briefing of the changes to the UAAP and its coverage.
In support of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) that the country will host from November 30 to December 11, no UAAP event will be played for the duration of the regional meet; necessitating triple-headers during Wednesdays for men’s and women’s basketball. Another way to ensure the league’s full cooperation is by moving some of the traditional first half sports into the second semester.
Another firsts for the country’s most prestigious collegiate league are the official Twitter and Instagram accounts (both @uaap_official) where official announcements from the league will be posted by the current school host and will be handed over to the next host once the current season is over.
The opening ceremony, with the theme: “All for More”, takes place on September 1 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena at 4PM while the men’s basketball tournament kicks off on September 4 at the Araneta Coliseum.
