After a strong second half run, the Green Archers lost steam down the stretch as they fall to the Fighting Maroons 85-92 in overtime Sunday in the FilOil Preseason.

Leading by 9 entering the final quarter, UP slowly inched they way to tie the count in the closing seconds of regulation. La Salle had one last attempt to win it but Andrei Caracut’s shot was blocked by Ricci Rivero to force an extension.

With Caracut fouling out and Aljun Melecio falling to cramps, the Archers were unable to find their mark in the final minutes of extra time as UP managed to increase their lead off foul shots and timely hits inside.

Justine Baltazar topscored with 22 points while Ralph Cu finished with 15, all from beyond the arc.

The Green Archers (1-1) will battle Mapua this Tuesday at 5pm.
