Almohjili strike propels DLSU past Adamson for first win

The De La Salle University Men’s Football Team relied on one of its newcomers to seal their first win in the UAAP Season 81 Men’s Football Tournament.

Mohammad Adil Almohjili’s 50th minute strike was enough for La Salle to earn a 1-0 victory over Adamson University at the FEU-Diliman field, Sunday afternoon.

“We can’t be satisfied with this game. We have to work on a lot of things in the team. One is gelling, two is yung experience ng mga bata. We started with eight rookies. More games pa rin eh… All of the teams right now in the UAAP are not pushovers,” said La Salle mentor Alvin Ocampo.

Almohjili slalomed past the Soaring Falcons defense to score past their goalkeeper, Carl Viray, in what was a wonderful solo goal.

Beforehand, though, Adamson had a player sent off as early as the fifth minute of the game when Ricardo Ortinez Jr was ejected after both teams figured in a short scuffle.

La Salle now turns its sights against University of the East who shocked Ateneo de Manila University last February 21, 2019 at the Moro Lorenzo Field in Quezon City.

The Taft school faces UE on February 28, 2019 at FEU-Diliman. That game will be played at 1:00 PM.
