La Salle records UAAP’s most lopsided win in blowout of UST

The De La Salle Green Archers once again blew out the UST Growling Tigers, this time beating them by a score of 94-59 on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The 35-point margin of victory is the largest so far by any team in UAAP Season 80. After letting UST keep close in the first period, the Green Archers used a dominant defensive effort to build an insurmountable lead for the Tigers in the second quarter and ran away with the victory.

The win improved the record of La Salle to 10-2 this season with matchups remaining against NU and Ateneo.

Ben Mbala finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks to lead La Salle, which also received a 16-point, 7-rebound effort from Ricci Rivero. Jolo Go scored 12, while Prince Rivero also contributed with 19 points and 5 boards.

Abu Tratter scored 8 points and grabbed 15 of La Salle’s total 61 rebounds. UST, which had only 45 rebounds, was led by the 25 points of Marvin Lee.

DLSU shot only 40% from the floor but went 17-of-19 from the foul line.

The victory was the second straight blowout win for DLSU, who will have tough tests before the Final Four against the Bulldogs and Eagles.
