The DLSU Lady Archers failed to win the coveted championship as they fell short to the NU Lady Bulldogs in their 67-52 defeat yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Trisha Piatos was the lone bright spot for La Salle as she scored 14 points and had 3 steals. In addition, Nicky Garcia chipped in 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

On the other hand, Andrea Tongco had a stellar performance for NU as she scored 23 points and dished out 3 assists.

With this La Salle defeat, it will now be a winner takes all match this coming Saturday, 10 am, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After a see-saw exchange in the first half, La Salle failed to run their offense in a pivotal third quarter as NU mounted a scoring that was too much for the Lady Archers to handle.

After a Cass Santos baseline jumper that knotted the score at 37-all, La Salle struggled mightily down the stretch as the team gave up 12 unanswered points which saw the lead swell to 51-39 in favour of the Bulldogs.

La Salle got outscored 22-36 in the second half which made any comeback attempt near impossible.

The scores:

DLSU (52) – Piatos 14, Garcia 8, Santos 7, Abaca 6, Melendres 5, M. Ong 4, A. Ong 4, Corcuera 11, Claro 13, Ramos 7.

NU (67) – Tongco 23, Bernardino 14, Gupilan 10, Abriam 7, Bonleon 6, Paig 3, Sison 2, Escoto 2, Seno 0, Antiquiera 0.

Quarter scores: 17-18, 30-31, 39-49, 52-67.
